JESSICA WINTER SAD MUSIC

Providing a swift follow up to last month's 'Play', songwriter, producer and (interesting?) dancer Jessica Winter has dropped another accomplished cut. Opposing its leading title, 'Sad Music' is in fact a joyous and unfiltered ode to the restorative powers of music. Opening with a satisfyingly squashy synth bass line, heavy-hitting beats slam beneath Winter's upfront vocals that feel painfully relatable despite their polished finish. The call and response chorus is dangerously catchy, as Winter's addictive mantra "I'll make it through by listening to...sad music" worms its way into your subconscious. Digging deep after the 2 minute mark a soulful sax interlude gives rises to an intense hyper-pop-inspired bridge before a bright and shiny synth solo sees out the track.
